We invite you to join our online tour through the ancient wine cellars of Cyprus!
We’ll see with our own eyes wineries that are over 3,000 years old and visit a massive Bronze Age tavern near Limassol.

We'll discuss how, where, and how much the ancient Cypriots drank during different historical periods. We'll dive into drunken mythology, explore ancient Cypriot mosaics depicting feasts, and, of course, talk about the cult of Aphrodite and wine.

We'll also learn about both ancient and modern wine festivals on the island and uncover the meaning of the Cypriot phrase ΠΙΝΝΕ ΚΡΑΣΙΝ ΝΑΣΙΗΣ ΖΩΗΝ, which you can often spot at the Limassol Wine Festival.

We’ll go over the main grape varieties of Cyprus and learn how to recognize them by their leaves and berries! We’ll also study the island’s key wines and discover which dishes Cypriots used — and still use — wine to prepare.

We’ll definitely read ancient texts and inscriptions, make a list of villages worth visiting, and pick up new Greek words along the way.

This lecture is perfect for those preparing for the Cyprus culture and history exam!
